In this post-pandemic era, one thing is certain- the pandemic’s impact has brought out the need for adaptability and resilience in the workforce, promoted a shift towards a new digital economy, and accelerated the significance of HR in the new normal.

The HR department plays a significant role in the success of every organization. The challenges faced by these departments can range from new hires, company norms, employee grievances, etc. Some challenges are more distinct, so to handle these situations, HR departments must have a clear view of the challenges they may encounter and be ready to approach them wisely.

1. Rules and Regulations

This must be one of the top priorities for HR departments- compliance with government rules. Changes may occur at any time, and HR departments must be aware of these changing rules. Failure to stay updated will result in hefty penalties and fines; moreover, it will defame the company’s reputation too.

In the journey ahead, it will negatively affect the hiring processes and maintain the workforce effectively. So, as a human resource specialist, you must always move forward with the changing rules and ensure that the company follows them without any fail. HR departments should always refer to the government’s corporate rules in the respective country, for each country may have different rules.

2. Counseling and Collaboration

Dispersed workers may feel isolated from their teams. HR teams must be able to create a feeling of togetherness and keep them updated in the loop. To ensure this, HR specialists must maintain a two-way dialogue with employees. Proper and timely counseling sessions may be created to help them relieve their isolation anxiety, make them de-stress, and to vent their fears.

3. Hiring

Another primary task of human resources is hiring employees. Hiring the right employees will reflect in the workforce of every organization. HR departments must employ the best hiring strategies in the labor market. While hiring the right hands, HR professionals must also look into employee persona, career goals, cultural fit, future goals, work experience, skill tests, etc.

4. Changes in Company Roles

At times, changes may happen within company roles, and the employees may need to adapt to these new changes. This adaptation may be challenging for the workforce as it may create new hardships in work, disrupt the team balance, etc. So in these scenarios, HR professionals should ensure that these rules are accepted smoothly among the employees. HR teams can maintain transparency while implementing new company rules. Also, highlight the benefits and purpose of change with the employees.

5. Employee Training

Employee training always had a great place in workforce grooming. Training your employees help to cut cost as it will reduce the cost of bringing in new individuals for every new opening.

Moreover, it motivates the employees. It becomes a challenge for HR departments in finding the right hands and the proper course applicable to each one. To overcome this, HR departments can implement a mentorship program for both juniors and seniors in the firm. This way, it helps seniors to enhance their communication and leadership skills. Secondly, it let the juniors learn from industry experts in a cost-effective manner.

6. Compensation

Compensation is not always about the salary. It is about keeping your employees happy. HR departments can design various employee rewards and recognition programs. It pays as a token of appreciation for a job well done. This helps to motivate your employees and enhances employee engagement.

7. Employee Retention

Employee retention is equally essential as employee hiring. For employees, there are many opportunities available. So they must be treated well to retain your employees. Employee turnover will adversely affect productivity, working environment and increases costs as well.

8. Focus on Employee Wellness

HR specialists must put more concern on the mental health and wellness of the employees. Anxiety and stress have increased among the employees due to the pandemic. The organizations should address holistic benefits, including mental health and financial security.
